Red Bearded Dragons

Red Bearded Dragons are some of the more popular colors found in Beardies. Because of the unusual red or crimson tone to their skin, many people seek to find one of these exotic lizards. The care for this uniquely colored Beardie is the same as it is for any other color Beardie-adequate housing and feeding. They’re not as difficult to find as a Giant Beardie and many breeders specialize in putting together brilliantly colored male and female Beardies in order to get unique reds.

You may be able to even custom pick the particular hue of red you’re looking for among Red Bearded Dragons. When you find a breeder, you can discuss with him any planned breedings for the year. Most breeders have specific target colors and lines they opt to breed and can let you know if they’ll have the type of Beardie you’re seeking to find. This type of breeding is seen as a color enhancement. Keep in mind that you want to make sure you understand the bloodline and the colors because the colors in the juvenile Beardies are not apparent until it gets older. The drab gray and markings on the juvenile fade as it matures.
