Giant Bearded Dragon

Most adult Beardies are average sized but the Giant Bearded Dragon can become quite large both in weight and in length. Most of the Giants originate from German bloodlines and have a lineage dating back hundreds of years. These gentle giants still make great pets but you should be aware that they will consume a lot of food, so you’ll need to be prepared for that expense over and above what you’ll have with a regular Beardie.

Actually, every expense associated with a regular sized Beardie will have to be adjusted for a Giant. These pets need a lot of space so you’ll have to have a larger enclosure.

You might see signs or hear of breeders advertising that they have a Giant Bearded Dragon for sale. Don’t be fooled into thinking that a large Beardie is a Giant. Most Giants are overseas imports. While you can find healthy, legitimate ones in the United States, there are many unscrupulous sellers out there who will claim their Beardies are giants when in fact they aren’t. In order not to get suckered in, ask for proof of lineage. A seller who has the proof that his or her dragons are the real deal won’t have any trouble showing potential buyers the records.
