Cage for Bearded Dragon

Before bringing home your exotic lizard, you’ll need a cage for Bearded Dragon. Don’t get tricked into thinking that any old environment will do for your pet. Because if you can’t give him the housing he needs to meet his needs, you can end up doing more harm than good. One of the worst things you can do to a Beardie is to buy or set up an enclosure that makes him feel like the walls are closing in on him. Not enough running space will make him get stressed out and that stress will then in turn lead to one very sick lizard. While Beardies do well in a captive setting, it can’t feel like a cage to them. They have to have their needs met so they can thrive.

There’s nothing wrong with scouring the want ads to see if you can find a suitable home for your new pet but you’ll want to do that first before you bring him home. A Beardie cannot live in a cardboard box. He’ll end up eating some of the cardboard and that won’t be a good idea for either of you. Setting up the place where your pet will live will most likely be the biggest expense you’ll have to start with. You can use different types of homes for him, a cage, an aquarium or you can even make one of your own for him as long as that’s a skill that you have.

The cage for Bearded Dragon can be different if you’re planning to start out with juvenile Beardies as long as you know that in a few months, you’ll have to spend the money to either upgrade or get one built during that time. You can use a 20 gallon tank to keep juveniles in but that wouldn’t be suitable for an adult.
