Bearded Dragon Tank: Setting Up the Perfect Habitat for Your Exotic Lizard

The right set up in your Bearded Dragon tank will have your little pet basking in a home sweet home. The right kind of tank isn’t difficult to set up. Just take it step by step and you’ll have a home your Beardie can happily grow old in. Once you’ve selected a tank, you’ll need to think about substrate. The type of substrate you choose for your Beardie is very important. Never under any circumstances use sand. Even if your Beardie doesn’t eat a mouthful of it, he can still ingest it from the legs and bodies of the insects he eats that hop around the cage. That sand can then cement inside his body, harden and a blockage develop.

For your Bearded Dragon tank, you’ll have to have a heat source. You can find a heat source by using a heater or specific types of lights that will give off enough heat for your Beardie. Be sure that your pet cannot reach the heat source directly as this can result in skin trauma or a burn.

Wood or rocks used by your pet for climbing are a must have in your Bearded Dragon Tank. A thermometer is another must. Don’t even think about bringing home a Bearded Dragon if you don’t have a heat source and a way to check that the heat source is properly heating your tank. Beardies are wonderful pets and aren’t hard to care for. Once you get everything set up, you’ll be able to give and get years of enjoyment from your exotic pet.
