Bearded Dragon Pets: An Introduction to Caring for This Pet Lizard

There several steps involved when caring for Bearded Dragon pets. First, you’ll need a decent setup for it. By setup, that involves the cage along with all the supplies that go into the cage as well as a food supply and vitamins. You’ll also want to make sure you have a veterinarian in your area that’s qualified to take care of your Beardie in the event he becomes ill. You don’t want to find out during an emergency that the local vets don’t have a clue what a Beardie is much less how treat one.

Bearded Dragon pets need cages with the following supplies. A thermometer for keeping the temperature ‘just right’ for him, a heat lamp or source for him to be able to bask and get warm if he needs to, a perch, a shelter or even two, some type of substrate for the bottom of the enclosure and feeding dishes. You’re also going to need something to bathe your Beardie in. Giving your Beardie a bath every seven days helps to keep his skin looking good-it helps in the shedding process and in the event he has trouble going to the bathroom the warm water relaxes him and helps him go.

The food supply for your Bearded Dragon pets will consist of vegetables like collard greens, kale, turnip greens, squash, peas, different types of fruits like grapes, bananas and more. Beardies also need to eat insects and you can either have your own pesticide free insects to feed them or buy them from a supplier.
