Is your Bearded Dragon not eating? Don’t automatically assume that it’s due to an underlying health issue right away. Although sometimes Beardies will go off their feed when they’re ill, sometimes they’ll stop eating for other reasons. Reasons like the environment you’ve provided for them is off kilter and they’re stressed because of that. Always check his cage conditions first. One of the main causes of a Beardie with a poor appetite is a wrong cage temperature.

Sometimes, though, I Bearded Dragon not eating means that his digestion is running slow or it could be he’s brumating. If he is brumating, he’ll give you little clues to let you know. A simple reason for a Beardie not eating is because he’s tired of the selection or has developed a preference for one food and that’s what he wants. Or it could be that you’re simply feeding him too much. Remember that his digestion doesn’t work as fast as a human’s does.

You can also do what human mothers do when their children don’t want to eat. Try a bribe. Give your Beardie some of his favorite food and see if that sparks his appetite again. You can also tempt him with baby food. A Bearded Dragon not eating isn’t a cause for alarm right away. But after you check to make sure his environment is correct and you know for sure he’s not brumating and his favorite treats don’t tempt him, then you might want to take him to the vet as illness or an impaction could be the culprit.
